The 2008 Faith and Health Summit

View Program Agenda

Description:

The 2008 Faith and Health Summit will provide an opportunity to talk with others who are working at the intersection of faith and health about how we can move together to support healthy, whole and hopeful communities where everyone can be healthy—able to live out their God-given potential and calling.

Keynote Speaker:

Dr. Sharon Welch, Provost and Professor of Religion and Society at Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, will frame our day by talking about how risk, jazz and improvisation can inform how we create responses to the critical social issues we face.

We will apply her ideas as we engage the lauded PBS series, Unnatural Causes, which examines how racism, economics, immigration, housing and other realities impact people's health. In the afternoon we will talk with each other, exploring how we can continue to build a faith and health movement that can truly improve the quality of people's lives in metropolitan Chicago.

We will also be mapping all the resources are for faith and health initiatives throughout metropolitan Chicago.  We are gathering information about faith-based programs, services, collaboratives, coalitions, etc. in Chicagoland and will display them on an on-line Google map on the day of the Summit.  This map will be available after the Summit for others to access.
