Steve Smoot

Steve Smoot, FACHE, serves as Executive Vice President and President of the North Carolina and Georgia Division for Advocate Health, overseeing 40 hospitals, including four children’s campuses, and more than 500 sites of care across four states. With more than 25 years of health care leadership experience, Steve has demonstrated a strong track record in strategy development, operational transformation and physician partnerships.

Prior to joining Advocate Health, he was Chief Operating Officer for SSM Health, a not-for-profit health system providing patient care at 23 hospitals and more than 300 physician offices. There, he led hospital, medical group and business operations across Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Steve has a bachelor’s degree in hospital administration from Weber State University and an MBA from Brigham Young University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and has been recognized with the ACHE Regents Award twice.

Steve is married and has five daughters, four grandsons and one granddaughter. In his spare time, he enjoys being active outdoors.
