CHARLOTTE, N.C.– One of the nation’s most respected news outlets is recognizing Advocate Health as a national leader in health care. In new rankings released today, U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” rankings names Advocate Health among the best in the country for the treatment of numerous complex medical conditions.
Advocate Health earned eight “Top 50” national rankings honoring the quality of its adult specialties, including: Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation, in Charlotte, ranked seventh nationally for rehabilitation; Advocate Christ Medical Center, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, ranked 15th in obstetrics and gynecology, 30th in cardiology and heart surgery, 42nd in pulmonary and lung surgery and 49th in gastroenterology and GI surgery; Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, in Park Ridge, Illinois, ranked 34th in orthopedics; Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, in Barrington, Illinois, ranked 39th in orthopedics; and Aurora St. Luke's ranked 39th in obstetrics and gynecology.
The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list recognizes both regional and national achievement. Designated among the “Best Regional Hospitals” were Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, in North Carolina, and Aurora Medical Center – Grafton and Aurora St. Luke’s, in Wisconsin. Six Advocate Health hospitals ranked in the top 20 in Illinois – Advocate Christ, Advocate Condell Medical Center, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Advocate Good Shepherd, Advocate Lutheran General and Advocate Trinity Hospital. In addition, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Aurora St. Luke’s were each named the “Best Hospital” in their respective metro regions.

In all, Charlotte-based Advocate Health has 25 award-winning hospitals on U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-25 Best Hospitals list for adult specialties. In addition, nine of the health system’s hospitals achieved a combined total of 32 high performing ratings across adult specialties. Advocate Condell Medical Center, Advocate Christ, Advocate Good Samaritan, Advocate Good Shepherd, Advocate Illinois Masonic, Advocate Lutheran General, Advocate Sherman, Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center and Aurora St. Luke’s earned such accolades.
While 2024-2025 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings will be shared later this year, Advocate Children’s Hospital, in Chicago, and Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital, in Charlotte, were most recently recognized with a total of nine U.S. News & World Report national badges for pediatric specialties.
Each year, U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 5,000 hospitals across the nation, assessing objective measures in most areas of care, such as risk-adjusted survival, readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators. According to the publication, the annual Best Hospitals rankings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for life-threatening conditions or for common elective procedures.
