For Educators Credit Union, supporting Aurora Health Care Foundation is about more than making a charitable gift. It’s about investing in the people and places that help communities thrive.
The connection grew stronger in 2020 when Educators Credit Union merged with Aurora Credit Union. That milestone brought two community-focused organizations together and created new opportunities to expand their impact.
“We have been a supporter of Aurora Health Care Foundation for many years,” said Shannon Huot, Chief Experience Officer at Educators Credit Union. “Today, our collaboration extends well beyond financial support. By working together, we’ve been able to broaden access to education, connect more individuals and families with valuable products and services, and expand on our shared commitment to helping people build greater stability within the areas we serve.”
That shared commitment continues to inspire the organization’s charitable giving.
“We support Aurora Health Care Foundation and other healthcare providers because we share a passion for improving financial well-being, expanding access to education, and creating opportunities that have a lasting positive impact,” Shannon said. “Through charitable giving, we’re investing in meaningful partnerships that reflect our values and mission to help individuals and families reach their goals.”
For Educators Credit Union team members, the work is also personal. They have found meaningful ways to show gratitude for Aurora Health Care teammates through employee wellness and appreciation events, including food truck days, workshops, presentations and conversations with teammates at hospitals and clinics.
“Being able to be a part of employee wellness and appreciation days is one of our favorite ways to recognize the dedication of teammates and staff,” said Thomas Stark, Social Media and Community Outreach Strategist at Educators Credit Union.
The credit union’s involvement is rooted in deep appreciation for those who care for others every day.
“Whether inside the hospitals and clinics or out in our neighborhoods, Aurora Health Care and Educators Credit Union share the same mission of strengthening the places we call home,” Thomas said.
Most recently, Educators Credit Union made a $60,000 gift to support teammate and physician well-being at seven Aurora Health Care hospitals. The gift reflects the credit union’s belief that economic security and emotional resilience are both essential to overall health.
“As a credit union, we are committed to supporting financial wellness, but we also recognize that mental well-being plays an equally important role in helping individuals thrive,” Huot said. “We wanted to donate to express our gratitude and appreciation, demonstrate our commitment to the staff, and thank all of you for the incredible impact you have on our community.”
Through charitable giving and volunteer engagement, Educators Credit Union continues to help Aurora Health Care Foundation advance programs that support patients, teammates, physicians and communities. Together, the organizations are showing how generosity can create lasting impact – one act of support, one moment of appreciation and one strengthened community at a time.
